SYRACUSE — Candor’s Calli Marsh just missed a medal while Newark Valley’s Rachel Hartman placed 19th at the NYSPHSAA Girls Division 2 Individual Championship tournament held at AMF Syracuse Lanes here Saturday.
Marsh would finish in 11th place out of 55 competitors, just one place shy of a medal. Bloomfield’s Lydia Tutty rolled a 227 in her final game and Cohoes’ April Garneau shot 202 to knock the Coyotes’ standout out of the top 10.
Meanwhile, Marsh was affected as the oil began drying out on the lanes and her final two games were her lowest scores, 158 and 171. She started the tournament with 227, then added back-to-back 180s to finish the first set at 587.
She posted a 206 in the first game of her second series, finishing that series with a 535, giving her a six-game total pinfall of 1122, ending the tournament just 14 pins out of 10th.
Hartman opened the tournament with her low score of the day, a 144, then recorded a 164 and 166 for a 480 series. She began her second series with her best game, a 215, then added a 176 and a 172 for a 563 series and 1043 total pinfall.
Depew’s Emma Felton won the individual title with a 1246 total pinfall, rolling three games between 226 and 258 in the process.
