SECTION IV GIRLS BASKETBALL: OWEGO SEEDED 4TH IN CLASS A, OPENS AGAINST WAVERLY (February 20, 2026)

OWEGO — Owego has drawn the No. 4 seed for the Section IV Class A Girls Basketball Championships. The River Hawks (12-8) will host fifth-seeded Waverly (8-11) at 6 p.m. on Feb. 27.

The teams tied for second place in the STAC Central Division with 4-6 records and split a pair of regular season clashes. The Wolverines pulled away for a 54-36 home victory on Jan. 22, but Owego scored on a late turnover to pull out a 37-36 win on Feb. 10.

The winner advances to the semifinals at top-seeded Maine-Endwell (15-4) on March 3 at 6 p.m.

The championship game will be held March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.
