IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY DOWNS LANSING, 42-35, TO WIN LARGE SCHOOL TITLE (February 18, 2026)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley rode a 13-5 third-quarter surge to a 42-35 victory over Lansing in the IAC Large School JV girls championship here Tuesday night.

Emma Fenner and Myah Whitney highlighted the effort with one 3-pointer apiece, helping turn a 21-19 halftime edge into a 34-24 advantage.

Fenner accounted for four points, Whitney had three, Elle Webb added two, and Aviah Aylesworth and Peyton Rhodes tacked on two free throws each.

The Cardinals and Bobcats battled to an 11-11 deadlock in the first period with Fenner scoring four points while Jackie Aguirre and Kayla Griese scored five and four, respectively, for Lansing.

Natalie Wandell pumped out six points and Tyla Rundell added four as NV inched in front, 21-19, at the break. Griese paced Lansing with five, including her second 3-pointer of the evening.

Wandell tacked on another four points in the final frame while Alyssa Johnston and Mady Nolan scored four apiece for the Bobcats.

Wandell led all scorers with 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Fenner contributed eight points, four steals, three assists and one block; and Webb added seven points and three three assists.

Whitney had four points, eight assists and four steals; Aylesworth accounted for four points, six boards and two blocks; Rundell chipped in with four points; and Rhodes and Peyton White added two points and one point, respectively.

Griese led Lansing with nine points.
