SECTION IV WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY’S CREELEY, CALLAHAN RETURN TO STATES (February 14, 2026)

BINGHAMTON — Newark Valley’s Cadin Creeley and Titus Callahan will return to Albany following runner-up showings at the Section IV Division II Wrestling Championships at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena here Saturday.
Creeley (165 pounds) and Callahan (190) went 2-1 on the day. Both were state qualifiers in 2024 after placing third at sectionals.
Creeley dropped a 3-2 decision to Windsor’s Anthony Weaver in the championship round. It was a measure of revenge for the Black Knight grappler, whom Creeley defeated two years ago in the third-place match. Creeley came into the bout ranked fifth in the state in Division II by
New York Wrestling News and Weaver was ranked eighth.
Callahan ran into Unatego/Unadilla Valley/Franklin standout Yanni Drapaniotis and lost by fall in 1:49.
Drapaniotis was ranked No. 1 in the state by
New York Wrestling News before Tavio Hoose transferred from Division I St. Francis to Division II Southwestern during the season. Callahan is ranked 15th.
Creeley pinned Susquehanna Valley's Brodie Howard in 1:37 to start his day, then scored a 16-0 tech. Fall over Deposit/Hancock’s in 1:43 to secure a berth in the state tournament.
Callahan pinned Kaden Sims from Spencer-Van Etten/Candor in 1:28, then posted a 9-5 decision over Chenango Valley’s Brennen Riquier in the semifinals.
Elijah Williams (175) just missed a spot at states after falling to Sus Valley’s Zach LaMantia by a 10-1 major decision in the third-place bout.
He wrestled six matches, starting with a 16-1 tech. Fall over Sidney’s Parker Deblew in four minutes. He lost to Walton/Delaware Scademy’s Jaxon Backus by fall in 1:48 before winning three straight. Williams pinned Deposit/Hancock’s AJ Decker in 1:51 and Windsor’s Lucas Weaver in 1:54, then recorded an 18-0 tech. Fall over SVEC’s Cooper Zufall in 3:45.
Logan Rhodes took fifth at 138. He registered a 16-0 tech. Fall over Noah Eddy of Norwich in 5:33, then dropped a 14-4 decision to Waverly’s Daltton Davis. Rhodes came back to pin Schuyler’s Dylan Senecal in 2:45 then tacked on a 13-10 sudden victory win over Sus Valley’s Cassius Hudson before dropping a 19-7 major decision to Oneonta’s Amari Champen. He dispatched Sidney’s Donavin Eggleston in 24 seconds for fifth.
The Cardinals put two wrestlers on the sixth-place podium spot — Wyatt Dillow (215) and Jack Blomberg (285).
Dillow pinned Tioga’s Jamie Woodcock in 4:19, then lost by fall to Schuyler’s Patrick Croft in 1:18. He decked Norwich’s Noah Slack in 1:17, then scored a 12-4 major decision over Patrick Esolen of Deposit/Hancock. He dropped his final two bouts by fall, to Marathon’s Brian Deforest in 51 seconds and to Croft again in 1:28.
Blomberg dropped his first match to Dryden’s Lucas VanSlyke by fall in 2:40, but came back to decision Oxford/Greene’s Urijah Dibble, 13-6, and pin Oneonta’s Eli Daggy in 2:47. He dropped his final two bouts by fall, to Oxford/Greene’s Donte Wrench in 38 seconds and Windsor’s Luke Beattie in 44 seconds.
Also competing for NV were Sheldon Houston (103), Andrew Lelik (110) Kenny Slater (118), Travis Middendorf (150) and Logan Woodin (157). Houston, Lelik, Slater, Middendorf and Woodin each went 1-2 with Lelik and Woodin scoring falls.
Newark Valley finished fifth among 24 teams with 110 points. Tioga took the team title with 187, followed by Waverly with 120, Deposit/Hancock with 117, and Unatego/Unadilla Valley/Franklin with 112.5.
The state tournament will be held at Albany’s MVP Arena Feb. 27-28.
