SECTION IV BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING: ALLEN LEADS OWEGO AT CLASS B PRELIMINARIES (February 12, 2026)

ENDWELL — Magavin Allen was the top performer in the 100-yard backstroke, leading the Owego effort in the preliminaries at the Section IV Class B Boys Swimming & Diving Championships held at Maine-Endwell Wednesday.
Allen recorded a season-best time of 56.89 seconds, earning him the top seed for Saturday’s finals. He was the only competitor with a seed time under one minute (:59.63)
He was second in the 100 butterfly in a personal best 55.87 seconds and swam on two relays which also qualified for the finals.
Allen teamed with Javan Belokur, Vince Kneller and Eric Schrader to finish second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.54 and third in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:49.23.
Schrader landed a pair of runner-up finishes in individual events, the 200 free (1:55.54) and the 500 free (5:18.77). He set a personal record in the 200 and a season best in the 500.
Belokur advanced to the “A” final with his eighth-place showing in the 500 free with a season best 5:42.27. He added a ninth-place finish in the 200 free (2:07.37), qualifying him for the “B” final.
Vince Kneller took 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.86) and 15th in the 100 free (1:03.01), a personal best, while Stephen Gilmore had two personal records with a 10th in the 100 free (:59.89) and a 14th in the 50 free (:26.75). The duo qualified for the “B” final in all four races.
Also moving on to “B” finals are Padraig Allen, 11th in the 100 back (1:17.29), and Tobin Reynolds in the 100 breast, taking 16th with a PR of 1:23.28.
The River Hawks’ 200 free relay of Gilmore, Padraig Allen, Reynolds and Dom Scherrer qualified for the finals as well, placing sixth in 2:00.63.
Foreign exchange student Henry Schultz Larsson set PRs in the 100 breast (1:28.09) and 50 free (:34.67), placing 19th and 29th, respectively.
Reynolds added a PR in the 50 free (:30.99).
Scherrer was 17th in the 500 free (8:37.76) and 21st in the 200 free (2:51.54).
The top eight individual qualifiers in each event qualify for the “A” finals while 9th-16th places advance to the “B” final. The top eight relay teams move on as well.
M-E will host the finals Saturday at 4 p.m.
