OWEGO — The Owego girls basketball team split a pair of games last week, bringing its overall record to 10-7.
NORWICH 73, OWEGO 46
The Purple Tornado, ranked 16th in the state in Class A at the time, rode the scoring of Brynley (21 points) and Josey Ryan (20 points) to their 10th victory of the season Feb. 3 in STAC crossover action.
Owego was paced by Eva Crawford with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal; Marielle Searles with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists; and Jenna McEvoy with 10 points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists.
Ashlyn Dalton contributed seven points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals; Katelyn Dodge chipped in with five points, two rebounds and two steals; Keely Wicklund added one point and two rebounds; and Jana Nikulich grabbed five rebounds.
NOTE: Norwich, now ranked 17th, has improved to 12-2 overall.
OWEGO 52, UNATEGO 33
Marielle Searles and Eva Crawford recorded double-doubles to lead the River Hawks to a non-league victory.
Searles scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Owego’s 10th win of the season while Crawford added 11 points and 10 rebounds to go with one steal and one assist.
Jenna McEvoy pitched in with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals; and Ashlyn Dalton tacked on seven points, five steals, four assists and three boards. Elise Silvanic had four points, two rebounds and two assists; Keely Wicklund chipped in with two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal; and Jana Nikulich added two rebounds.
Owego hosts Waverly on Tuesday. The River Hawks have added two additional games to the regular season schedule — Thursday at Vestal and Feb. 17 at home against Corning (varsity only).
