STAC BOWLING: OWEGO BOYS RALLY TO DEFEAT WAVERLY (February 5, 2026)

OWEGO — The Owego boys bowling team needed to sweep Waverly on Wednesday and have the Wolverines also get swept by Chenango Forks on Thursday to create a tie for second place in the STAC Central/East division.

It didn’t happen, but the River Hawks did avenge an earlier loss to Waverly with a 3-2 victory at Owego Bowl.

Connor Kotski was red hot on the lanes, rolling a 719 series as Owego came from behind.

Meanwhile, The Wolverines’ girls team clinched a tie for the division title with a 5-0 win.

BOYS
Owego 3, Waverly 2
The Wolverines looked primed for another sweep, winning the first two games, 954-909 and 1068-1058, but Owego came storming back to takegame three, 1205-941. The 264-pin rout in the third game locked up the total pinfall, 3172-2963, giving the River Hawks two points to take the match.

Four Owego bowlers broke 200 in the final game and the fifth shot a 198.

Kotski’s 719 included games of 269, 247 and 203. Evan O’Hara added 269 and 232 for a 692 series, Ari Lemmon recorded a 268-642, Grayson Quick had a 210-602 and Scott Reigle scored a 223-517.

Waverly was led by Griffin Walter’s 201-203-209 for a 613. Collin Santaluci registered a 214 and 204 for a 610, and Tristan Campbell added a 259 and 205 for a 608. Rounding out the team scoring were Derek Johnson with a 212-572 and Maison Apgar with a 206-560.

Next up is the Section IV class tournament at Midway Lanes on Feb. 21.

GIRLS
Waverly 5, Owego 0
The Wolverines won by scores of 763-559, 756-577 and 713-534 , and won the total pinfall, 2232-1670.

Rylie Witman led Waverly with a 192-534.

Elaina Anschutz paced Owego with a 140-387, Americus Booker shot a 127-333, Sophiarose Winters added a 115-330, Emma Nixon recorded a 121-317 and Madison Kinney tacked on a 110-303.

Next up is the Section IV class tournament at Midway Lanes on Feb. 20.
