IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY CRUISES PAST T-BURG (February 3, 2026)

TRUMANSBURG — With a 13-point lead already in hand, Newark Valley erupted for 22 third-quarter points to cruise to a 59-33 victory over Trumansburg in IAC girls basketball crossover action here Tuesday.

Aubrey Kwiatkowski and Adriana Rich, who would share scoring honors with 17 points apiece, connected for eight markers each to lead the scoring onslaught.

Haven Aylesworth and Elizabeth Phillips got the Cardinals going, putting up seven and six points, respectively, as NV doubled up T-burg, 16-8, in the first period. Rich tacked on the first of her four 3-pointers.

Kwiatkowski knocked down two of her three treys in the second quarter, scoring nine points as the Cardinals took a 30-17 advantage into the break.

Rich added five rebounds, five assists and four steals to her stat sheet while Kwiatkowski grabbed seven boards and dished out four assists.

Phillips finished with a dozen points, three rebounds, a steal and an assist; Aylesworth had seven points, six boards, four assists and two steals.

Meanwhile, Kam Short wreaked havoc at the defensive end of the court. Eight of her 12 rebounds came on defense, and she blocked six shots and had two steals. She also added six points and a pair of assists.

Also contributing to the win were Malloy Chapman with four boards; Gabbi James with an assist, a rebound and a steal; Cecilia Whitney with a steak and a rebound; Sarah Lamb with two boards; and Lilly Cornell with one rebound.

NV (14-2) heads to Lansing on Friday.
