IAC BOWLING: NEWARK VALLEY WINS BACK-TO-BACK MATCHES AGAINST LANSING, WATKINS GLEN (January 30, 2026)

NEWARK VALLEY — The Newark Valley bowlers were victorious against Lansing at Cardinal Lanes here on Wednesday, the girls winning, 4-0, and the boys coming away with a 3-1 win. On Thursday, both teams swept Watkins Glen at home.
“The bowling team had a great night against Lansing,” said coach Cody Cornell. “The girls team managed to take all four points with notable games from Rachel Hartman with a 207, Brook Illsley with a 200 and Abigal Dufresne with a 180. The girls team also had help from Abigail DeBolt with a 146, MaeAnna Jackson with a 144, and Stormi Wiley with a 121.
“This performance helps the lady Cardinals maintain their second-place spot in the IAC large school. Just three points behind Tioga.
“The boys team had a great showing vs. the No. 1 ranked Lansing boys team. The Cardinals took three out of four points. Strong showings from Mason Peck with a 210, John Sloughter with a 191, and Devon Green with a 190. The boys also had some help from Will Simmons with a 181, Kaleb Jackson with a 134 and Reese Illsley with a 139. This huge victory will likely push the Cardinals into second place in the IAC.
“I couldn't be more proud of both teams’ performance last night, especially the boys taking three out of four against a No. 1 team. I am hopeful that this momentum carries the boys team into a first-place finish with the end of the season fast approaching. With the current standings, it is looking like it is going to be a nail biter till the last match of the regular season!”
GIRLS
NV 4, Lansing 0
Newark Valley won by scores of 718-576, 824-587 and 793-571 to take the total pinfall, 2335-1734.
Hartman led the way with a 207-556, Illsley scored a 200-485, Dufresne had a 180-464 and DeBolt posted a 153-427.
Jackson recorded a 144-394 and Wiley had a 121-301.
Sienna Wright rolled a 153-399 for Lansing.
NV 4, WG 0
The Cardinals won by scores of 751-260, 799-276 and 783-297, and took the total pinfall, 2333-833, against the understaffed Lake Hawks.
Hartman had a 180-527 and Dufresne was close behind with a 184-520.
Illsley rolled a 176-461, Jackson added a 155-427, DeBolt pitched in with 147-398 and Wiley tacked on a 98-268.
Faith White led WG with a 137-340.
BOYS
NV 3, Lansing 1
The Cardinals won the total pinfall by 15 pins, 2464-2449. They won the opening game, 836-773, but dropped the second, 855-777. NV came out ahead in game three, 851-821.
Sloughter paced NV with a 191-550 while Peck shot a 210-541 and Green added a 190-530.
Simmons rolled a 181-478, Jackson had a 134-360 and Illsley tacked on a 139-297.
Tyler Paige led the Bobcats with a 203-555.
NV 4, WG 0
NV picked up the win with scores of 776-774, 912-888 and 892-775, and claimed the total pinfall, 2580-2437.
Green set the pace for NV with a 235-593, Peck had a 194-543 and Sloughter chipped in with a 204-534.
Simmons added a 158-433, Jackson had a 158-429 and Illsley had a 184-400.
Watkins’ Kristofer Burke registered a 645 series with games of 267 and 200, and Brett Cullen-Pike had a 222 game.
