IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR SWEEPS THE WEEK, GOES 3-0 (January 27, 2026)

CANDOR — The Candor JV boys basketball team made it a clean sweep last week, defeating Windsor, Spencer-Van Etten and Southern Cayuga.

CANDOR 77, WINDSOR 44
The Coyotes opened the week Monday with a non-league victory at home, riding a 24-point second quarter to a 37-18 advantage at the half.

Nathan Morse put up seven points in the first period and eight in the second while Elliott Johanns tacked on eight in the second stanza to highlight the early start.

Johanns tacked on another eight points in the third quarters as Candor built a 55-34 cushion.

Lucas and Logan Edwards combined for a dozen points for the Coyotes in the final frame.

Johanns led all scorers with 19 points, Morse contributed 17 and Ethan Eiklor added 11. Hunter Cody added eight and Lucas Edwards tacked on seven.

Logan Edwards pitched in with five points, Avree Klick had four, and Alex Kirk, Braydon Powers and Oscar Valdez Cole added two apiece.

Cade Beamer led Windsor with 16 points and Braden Guthrie had 10.

CANDOR 59, S-VE 38
In an IAC South Small School clash, the Panthers grabbed the early edge, 16-15, after one quarter, but a 14-4 run put Candor on top at halftime, 29-20.

The Coyotes’ Eiklor and Morse scored six and five points, respectively, in the first quarter, and Johanns added six in the second. Damien Vellake and Cam Losey accounted for six and five points, respectively, in the first period for S-VE.

Candor took the third quarter, 14-11, and the fourth, 16-7.

Morse led all scorers with 18 points, Johanns had 16 and Eiklor tacked on 11. Cody scored five, Valdez Cole had three, and Logan Edwards and Klick chipped in with two apiece.

Losey paced the Panthers with 16 points, Vellake recorded eight, Gabe McCracken had six, Taylor Vanderpoel added four, and Landon Whitmarsh and Logan Smith added two apiece.

CANDOR 86, S. CAYUGA 37
The Coyotes were hot right out of the gate, bolting to a 25-10 lead after one quarter in the IAC Small SChool crossover contest..

Eiklor started out with 11 points and Morse added another seven.

A 21-12 second-quarter surge gave Candor a 36-22 cushion and the Coyotes put the game away with a 23-6 run in the third, making it 69-28 with the final eight minutes to go.

Cody and Morse set the pace in Q2 with six points each. Cody added another seven in the third period while Morse and Logan Edwards pitched in with five points apiece.

Lucas Edwards scored eight points in the final frame and Kirk added six more.

Logan and Lucas Edwards, and Kirk sank two 3-pointers each in the game.
