STAC JV WRESTLING: OWEGO’S DALY, GEHRING WIN CONFERENCE TITLES (January 25, 2026)

BINGHAMTON — Owego’s Mamas Gehring pinned all four opponents while Cael Daly recorded three tech. falls to capture individual titles at the STAC Wrestling JV Championships held at Binghamton High School on Friday.

Gehring, competing at 132 pounds, recorded two first-period falls and two more in the third period.

He started the tournament by decking Horseheads’ Evan Ferris in 1:55. He followed that win with falls over Chenango Forks’ Zachary Tobias in 4:35 and Oneonta’s Henry Mahar in 4:59. In the championship match, Gehring dispatched Macean Champen of Oneonta in 1:29.

Daly’s first bout at 103 resulted in a 21-5 tech. fall over Corning’s Jonathan Byrnes in 2:24. In the semifinals, he won 18-2 against Maine-Endwell’s Jimmy Policare in 3:45. He faced another M-E wrestler, Miles Smith, in the finals and recorded the 16-1 tech in four minutes.

Lucas Stephens claimed third-place honors at 110. He won his first match by fall over Vestal’s Ihsan Shah in 2:59. In the semis, he lost by pin to eventual champion Liam Stanton in 42 seconds. Stephens rebounded with a fall over Ithaca’s Hendrix Adams in 3:54 in the bronze medal match.

Sullivan Morgan placed fourth at 132. He went 2-2, pinning Binghamton/Seton Catholic’s Kenny Howe in 4:35 and scoring a 16-0 tech. fall over Vestal’s Nicholas Smith.

Omar Washington (165) was also 2-2. He pinned Elmira’s Konner Benedict in 1:57 and received a medical forfeit from Windsor’s Carlisle Hanyon.

Carson Desmond (132), Finn Morgan (138) and Kaleb Buzzell (165) all went 1-2 on the day, each of their victories coming via second period falls.
