Tioga County Sports Report
WATKINS GLEN — SVEC crowned three champs and had one runner-up here Saturday at the IAC Girls Wrestling Championships at the Watkins Glen Fieldhouse.

Senior Tayah Beach, junior Katelyn VanEtten, and sophomore Taylor Zufall won IAC gold for the Eagles, and junior Elizabeth Kunte was a runner-up.

With weight classes combined in some instances due to the small number of competitors, there were no team championship.

Beach was 3-0 to win the 120-pound pool, including two technical falls.

Beach scored a 10-0 technical fall off Newark Valley's Kailyn Harvey to open her day.

After a forfeit from Tioga's Vida Rossi, Beach scored a 10-0 technical fall over Newark Valley's Abigail Escalante.

Zufall was 3-0 to win the 114-pound title, winning two by fall and the other via technical fall.

Zufall started pool action with a pin of Whitney Point's Zoey Taft in 2:27, then scored a 10-0 technical fall over Newark Valley's Nora McCann.

Zufall finished off her title run with a 10-0 technical fall of Tioga's Mia Hall.

VanEtten pinned Newark Valley's Ashleen Callahan in 47 seconds, and Tioga's Emily Moniz in 1:18.

Kunte was 2-1 to place second at 100 pounds.

Kunte's first win was a no contest against Newark Valley's Tressa Middendorf.

Kunte dropped a 12-0 technical fall to Newark Valley's Hadley Merrill, but bounced back to claim second place with a pin of Schuyler's Kaycee Lyles in 44 seconds.
