IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR ROLLS AGAIN, DOWNS SOUTHERN CAYUGA, 98-37 (January 23, 2026)

CANDOR — The Candor boys basketball team capped a 3-0 week with another offensive explosion, pumping out the points in a 98-37 IAC Small School crossover rout of Southern Cayuga here Friday.

Not to be overlooked, the Coyotes were impressive at the other end of the court as well, ripping down 28 defensive rebounds (43 total) to go with seven steals and six blocked shots.

Candor rolled to a 31-10 advantage in the first quarter behind a 13-point burst from Donald Makie and built a 64-22 lead at the half. Makie and Jakobe Foster scored seven points each while Ryan Huizinga and Matthew Smith tacked on another six apiece.

Smith would put another nine points on the scoreboard in the third quarter as the Coyotes built a comfortable 87-28 cushion heading into the final frame.

Foster and Huizinga recorded double-doubles to highlight the win. Foster had 15 points while dishing out 11 assists, and Huizinga had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Foster also collected seven rebounds and two steals, and Huizinga tacked on three assists, one block and one steal.

Makie led all scorers with 23 points, including two 3-pointers and a 3-for-3 showing at the free throw line, and tacked on one rebound and one steal. Smith knocked down a trio of treys en route to a 17-point night, and added one rebound and one assist.

James Pritchard contributed 14 points, including two threes, and also had two rebounds and two assists. Kellen Williamson chipped in with 10 points, including two treys and a 2-for-2 effort at the charity stripe, and added five boards and a block.

Kyron O’Dell had five points, two blocks, a steal and an assist; Ben Sheridan added four points, pulled down a dozen boards, and had a block, a steal and an assist; and Teagan Kwiatkowski pitched in with four assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block.

Daegan Miller led the Falcons with 18 points.

The Coyotes visit rival Tioga on Tuesday.
