STAC WRESTLING: OWEGO’S LOVELL, SIROTKIN SEEDED 4TH FOR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (January 23, 2026)

BINGHAMTON — Owego’s Gavin Lovell and Vitaly Sirotkin have earned No. 4 seeds for the STAC Wrestling Championships being held at Binghamton High School on Saturday.

Lovell, a 7th-grader, is 20-6 on the season and will be representing the River Hawks at 103 pounds.

The top three seeds are Raf Haque (13-10) of Vestal, Brody O’Hern (23-6) from Chenango Forks and Corning’s Carter Soltis (6-2).

O’Hern defeated Lovell, 6-1, in a dual meet about two weeks ago.

Sirotkin, a sophomore 110-pounder, has posted a 22-8 record.

Seeded ahead of him are Horseheads’ Josh Knapp (27-5), Rasheed Scott (22-4) from Binghamton/Seton Catholic and Connor McAllister (17-9) from Horseheads.

Scott scored a 6-1 decision over Sirotkin at the Larry Goodrich Memorial Invitational in early December. McAllister took a 3-0 decision from Sirotkin in the third-place bout at last year’s STAC tournament.

The top three seeds at 103 and 110 are from Division I teams. Owego competes at the Division II level.

Also seeded to reach the podium is River Hawk sophomore John Cornwell, No. 6 at 132. He comes in with a 19-9 record.

Of the five wrestlers seeded ahead of him, Cornwell has only faced No. 2 Ryder Depadua-Reese of Elmira this season, losing by tech. fall. He did face top-seeded Gavin Hornsby from Horseheads in last year’s STAC tournament, dropping a major decision.

Trevor Monell is the eighth seed at 215 with a 17-13 record and Robert Curley comes in with a 14-10 record and is seeded 10th at 118.

Also competing for Owego will be Joe Monell (103), seeded 11th; Jaydin Brainard (175), seeded 12th; and Anthony Neumuth (285), seeded 14th.

Wrestling is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
