HS JV BOYS BASKETBALL: S-VE FALLS TO ROMULUS, MARATHON (January 21, 2026)

SPENCER — The Spencer-Van Etten JV boys basketball team dropped games to Romulus, 47-34, and Marathon, 53-40, during the past week.

ROMULUS 47, S-VE 34
The Panthers fell into a 13-4 hole in the first quarter and never recovered in Monday’s contest.

The Royals extended their lead to 26-14 at the half and led, 40-30, heading into the final stanza.

Kedize Poorman scored 15 points for Romulus and Sylas Buisch tacked on another 10.

Taylor Vanderpoel paced S-VE with nine points, all from 3-point range, and Camden Losey added eight points.

Nathan Ashcraft and Gabriel McCracken scored six points each with Ashcraft’s coming from beyond the arc. Damien Vellake and Logan Smith tacked on three and two points, respectively.

MARATHON 53, S-VE 40
The Olympians grabbed a 15-6 lead in the first quarter and held off an S-VE rally attempt to lead at halftime, 29-24, on Friday.

Marathon increased its advantage to 43 -32 in the third quarter.

Oliver Parker led the Olympians with 17 points while Brady Standish and Charles Forkey added 14 and 12, respectively.

Vanderpoel scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Panthers. Losey had eight points.

Ashcraft and Smith contributed six points each with Smith canning two treys and Ashcraft draining one.

Landon Whitmarsh added three points while McCracken and Vellake chipped in with two points each.
