IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: MARATHON TAKES CONTROL EARLY IN WIN OVER S-VE (January 16, 2026)

SPENCER — Marathon took control of the game earl and spread the scoring out to defeat Spencer-Van Etten, 55-35, in IAC Small School boys basketball crossover action here Friday night.

The Olympians took a 19-8 lead after one period and built a 44-17 cushion at the half, with Barrett Trabucco and Andyn Hoyt scoring seven and six points, respectively, in the second quarter.

S-VE matched the visitors in the third quarter with 11 points each.

Blake Birdsall led Marathon with 11 points and Trabucco had another 10 as nine different players put points on the scoreboard for the Olympians.

The Panthers’ Luukas Carling led all scorers with a dozen points. Jackson Bennett and Nevin Mack contributed six points apiece, Noah Ingram added four, Nick Oakes added a 3-pointer, and Keith Hills and Cameron Sundquist tacked on two points each.
