IAC WRESTLING: NEWARK VALLEY ROLLS TO 60-13 WIN OVER GROTON VIA FORFEITS (January 14, 2025)

NEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley received 10 forfeits from an understaffed Groton team to roll to a 60-13 IAC dual meet victory here Wednesday evening.

Accepting the forfeits for the Cardinals were Adam Kunze (103), Avery Davis (118), Jacob Shipman (132), Leland Houston (138), Logan Rhodes (144), Marcos Escalante (150), Cadin Creeley (165), Elijah Williams (190), Titus Callahan (215) and Wyatt Dillow (285).

There were three contested bouts, all won by the Red Hawks.

At 110 pounds, John-Michael Fanning won a high-scoring thriller over Andrew Lelik, 11-10. The other two matches were tech. falls with Braelin Kreider (126) defeating Kenny Slater, 18-0, in 5:07 and Max Bishop (175) downing Shane Davey, 17-2, in 4:11.

Several NV wrestlers moved up in weight or sat out the match.

Newark Valley, which is 1-1 in IAC Division I, improved to 4-1 against IAC opponents and 9-3 overall.
