ELMIRA — Owego’s RaeAnn Craft captured her second consecutive runner-up honor at the Southern Tier Memorial girls wrestling tournament held at LECOM Events Center here Saturday.
Craft, unscored upon during day one of the tournament Friday, built an 8-2 advantage over Fulton’s Savannah Emmons before recording a fall in 5:16.
In the championship bout, she squared off against Tioga’s Amelia Toomey, who was riding high after knocking off Niagara-Wheatfield’s Alexa Doxey, who came in ranked No. 2 at 132 by
New York Wrestling News. Toomey prevailed, 10-2.
Craft posted a 4-1 record for the weekend.
The River Hawks’ Ashlee Crawford-Bauer came within one win of placing as she advanced to the blood round at 114 pounds. She lost by fall to Waverly’s Kennadie Cochrane in 2:26 and finished the tourney with a 3-2 record.
