HS WRESTLING: OWEGO’S SIROTKIN, MONELL CAPTURE TITLES AT RIVER HAWK ROUND ROBIN (January 10, 2026)

OWEGO — Owego’s Vitaly Sirotkin and Trevor Monell captured weight class titles at the River Hawk Round Robin held here Saturday.
Sirotkin posted a 5-0 record at 110 pounds while Monell matched that mark at 215.
In the finals, Sirotkin built a 5-0 lead over Newark Valley’s Andrew Lelik before scoring a fall in 3:58. Monell was trailing Liberty’s Elmer Son Vicente, 3-0, before reversing him to his back for the pin in 1:38 in their championship bout.
Sirotkin spent about 2 ½ minutes on the mat in his first four matches, dispatching his opponents in 32, 26, 42 and 52 seconds.
Trevor Monell pinned his first four foes as well. The times were 1:59, 1:02, 3:54 and 3:27.
Gavin Lovell was the runner-up at 103, going 3-1 on the day. In the finals, he dropped a 6-2 decision in a battle of 7th-graders to Baldwinsville’s Kaleb Pollock, who has already surpassed the 30-win mark (32-2) this season. Lovell (16-4) started out with falls in 1:23 and 3:24, and also had an 18-4 major decision.
John Cornwell (138) grabbed second-place honors as well. He was 3-1 and won by fall in 1:23 and 1:17, and registered a 12-0 major decision before falling to Oneonta’s Amari Champen by pin in 1:56,
The River Hawks had a third runner-up as well in Robert Curley at 118. Going 3-1, he racked up falls in 1:10, 53 seconds and 1:25 before falling to Baldwinsville’s William Lamson (29-6) via pin in 48 seconds.
Joe Monell was fourth at 103 with a 2-2 mark, Cael Daly was fifth at 103, going 4-1, and Sullivan Morgan went 2-2 to take sixth at 132.
Monell’s wins were by fall in 1:41 and by a 10-1 major decision.
After dropping his opening bout, Daly responded with a pair of tech falls, 18-2 in 4:14 and 17-1 in 4:00, a 12-3 major decision and a 12-6 decision.
Morgan won by pin in 3:13 and by a 6-2 decision.
Mamas Gehring (132), Jaydin Brainard (175), Anthony Neumuth (285) were seventh at 2-2.
Gehring had falls in 1:37 and 39 seconds to his credit, Brainard added a 12-1 major decision and a pin in 1:33, and Neumuth won, 3-0, and by fall in 2:43.
Kaleb Buzzell was seventh also, going 2-3 at 165 with falls in 27 seconds and in 1:18.
Omari Washington (157) overcame losses in his first two bouts to finish 3-2. He chalked up pins in 1:05, 16 seconds and in 1:13.
Carson Desmond was 2-3 at 132 with falls in 3:27 and 13 seconds, Finnigan Morgan went 2-3 at 138 with a 16-0 tech fall in 5:40 and a pin in 5:05, and Jayce Saulsbury was 2-3 at 150 with falls in 1:38 and 56 seconds.
Lucas Stephens (118) added a pin in 1:35 and Gabriel Zervos tacked on a 17-1 tech fall in 4:00.
