NORWICH — Magavin Allen was a triple winner while Vincent Kneller and Eric Schrader won two events apiece as Owego defeated Norwich, 79-72, in STAC boys swimming and diving action here Tuesday.
Allen posted individual wins in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.8, winning by more than 11 seconds, and the 100 butterfly, clocking 59.6 seconds.
He was also first in the 200 medley relay with Kneller, Schrader and Javan Belokur, posting a time of 2:00.62.
That same quartet placed second in the 200 freestyle relay. Its time of 1:43.48 was just 57/100ths of second behind the Purple Tornado group.
Schrader’s individual win came in the 500 free, where his time of 5:32.86 edged out Norwich’s Amon Oliver by 72/100ths of a second. He was also the runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 25.26 seconds.
Kneller claimed an individual victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.05), where he and teammate Tobin Reynolds’ 1-2 finish clinched the meet for the River Hawks. Reynolds’ time was 1:27.96. Kneller was also third in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 2:48.28.
Owego’s Padraig Allen won the 100 backstroke in 1:16.93 with teammate Stephen Gilmore grabbing the runner-up spot in 1:24.54.
Gilmore was also third in the 100 free with a personal record of 1:01.71
Javan Belokur touched the wall second in the 100 free (:59.39) and the 200 free (2:13.48).
Padraig Allen, Henry Schultz Larsson, Reynolds and Gilmore finished third in the 200 free relay in 2:11.43, and Dom Scherrer joined Padraig Allen, Reynolds and Gilmore to take third in the 400 free relay in 5:11 .96.
Owego (3-0) heads to Greene on Friday, then competes in the Wolverine Invite at Waverly on Saturday.
