IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWFIELD PULLS OUT 38-30 WIN OVER S-VE (January 6, 2026)
Tioga County Sports ReportNEWFIELD — Newfield used a scoring advantage during the middle two quarters to pull out a 38-30 win over Spencer-VanEtten here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School girls basketball action.
The first quarter ended tied at 6-6, but the Trojans used an 11-5 second-quarter spurt to take a 17-11 lead into the halftime intermission.
Kaidince Root and Kaylee Kastenhuber scored four points price in the third quarter for the Panthers, but Newfield used a 13-10 advantage to take a 30-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
Trinity Dashler scored four points in the fourth quarter bu S-VE was only able to trim one point from its deficit.
Kastenhuber led S-VE with eight points and six rebounds, while Dashler had seven points and five boards, Root had six points and three rebounds, and Maddie Ellison chipped in with four points
Kendall Gentile added three rebounds, four assists, and three steals for the Panthers, Lauren Gillette grabbed seven rebounds and five steals, and Amani Diboun pulled down four boards.
S-VE returns to action Friday when it hosts Union Springs.
