HS GIRLS WRESTLING: SVEC’S BEACH SECOND AT DOROTHY PALMA CLASSIC (January 4, 2026)

ALFRED, N.Y. — Spencer-Van Etten/ Candor’s Tayah Beach recorded three pins a dn a tech fall en route to a second-place finish at the Dorothy Palma Classic held at Alfred University Friday.
The senior 126-pounder made quick work of her first two opponents, decking Aurora Parnell of Webster in 40 seconds and Cassidy Pilkenton of Geneva in 45 seconds.
In the quarterfinals, Beach dispatched Keshequa/Fillmore’s Lilly Rautenstrauch in 4:03. She followed that up with a 15-4 tech fall over Amelia Macaulay of Irondequoit in the semifinals.
In the championship match, she faced unbeaten Alivia Cartwright of Keshequa/Fillmore, who prevailed by fall in 4:22.
Cartwright, ranked fifth in the state at 132 by
New York Wrestling News, improved to 13-0 on the season with her third tournament championship of the 2025-26 season. Beach is 9-2.
SVEC returns to action Monday when it hosts Harpursville in a dual meet at 6 p.m.
