ONONDAGA, N.Y. — Owego Free Academy jumped out to an early lead and pulled away for a 48-33 win over Onondaga in non-league girls basketball action here Saturday afternoon at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College.

Jenna McEvoy knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter, and Eva Crawford added a pair of buckets to lead the Rivers Hawks to a 12-5 lead after the first eight minutes.

McEvoy drained two more 3-pointers in the second quarter, and Katelyn Dodge scored four points as Owego used a 17-11 advantage in the stanza to take a 29-16 lead into the halftime locker room.

Elise Silvanic and McEvoy each connected from behind the 3-point arc in the third quarter to help Owego to a 12-6 spurt. The River Hawks led 41-22 heading into the final eight minutes.

McEvoy led Owego with 16 points, including five 3-pointers), five assists, four steals, and one blocked shot, while Crawford had nine points, 11 rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot, and Dodge had eight points and 10 boards.

Silvanic had five points, three rebounds and three steals in the win, and Ashlyn Dalton added four points, three rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Jana Nikulich had four points and three rebounds for the River Hawks, and Keely Wicklund chipped in with three rebounds and three steals.

Owego, now 7-2, returns to action Jan. 13 at Chenango Valley.
