OSWEGO — Newark Valley advanced three wrestlers into the semifinals, and has three more alive in wrestlebacks here at the Ken Haines Memorial Tournament at SUNY Oswego.

Seniors Titus Callahan, Cadin Creeley, and Logan Woodin will begin action Saturday in the semifinals, while seniors Logan Rhodes, Elijah Williams and Marcos Escalante will continue in the consolation bracket.

Newark Valley is in seventh place with 68.5 points in the 26-team field. Webster-Thomas leads the field with 99 points and Cicero-North Syracuse, West Genesee and Fulton are tied for second with 92 points.

Callahan was 3-0 Saturday with a technical fall and two pins in the 190-pound bracket.

Callahan opened with a 15-0 technical fall over Central Square's Kaleb Crouse in 2:17, then built a 10-0 lead before a pin of Geneva's Anthony Delgado in 5:08.

In the quarterfinals, Callahan led Mexico's Owen Gilbert 15-5 before getting the pin at 4:32.

Callahan, now 20-0, will square off with South Lewis' Carter Bourgeois in the semifinals.

Creeley was 2-0 to reach the semis of the 165-pound bracket.

Creeley opened with a pin of Cicero-North Syracuse's Carlo Abboud in 1:29 in the round-of-16, then built an 11-0 lead n Mexico's Manuel Pelton-Vazquez before finishing off the fall at 3:54.

Creeley, now 17-0, will face Fulton's Collen Austin in the semifinals.

Woodin was 2-0 to reach the 150-pound semifinals.

He opened with a pin of Watertown's Donovan DeJesus in 1:22, then scored a 15-0 technical fall of Chittenango's Ian Bentz in 1:49 in the quarterfinals.

Woodin will face Mexico's Mason Wilcox in the semifinals.

Williams posted a 2-1 record in the 175-pound bracket. He won via 90-second fall over Mexico's Maddox Thomas, but lost in the quarterfinals via first-period fall to Watertown's Jack Converse.

In his first wrestleback match, Williams pinned Oswego's Cael Hyer in 1:31.

Escalante was 2-1 in the 144-pound bracket. He opened with an 18-0 technical fall of Central Square's Anthony Brown in the opening round, then dropped a 10-6 decision to Penn Yan's Ty Conniver in the round-of-16.

In his first wrestleback match, Escalante built a 9-1 lead before finishing off Nathan Mittler-Romano of West Genesee in 1:26.

Rhodes was 2-1 in the 138-pound bracket. He opened with a pin of Penfield's Sam Marciano in 5:30.

After a 13-6 loss to West Genesee's Max Alexander in the round-of-16, Rhodes blanked his teammate Leland Houston, 5-0, in his first wrestleback match.

Houston, a sophomore, was pinned in 4:44 by Chittenango's Trevor McDonald. The match was tied at 8-8 at the time of the pin.

Houston bounced back with a pin of Holland-Patents;s Dylan Bailey in 2:39, before dropping the decision to Rhodes.

Action resumes Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
