IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: S-VE KNOCKS OFF SOUTHERN CAYUGA, 36-20 (December 16, 2025)
Tioga County Sports ReportPOPLAR RIDGE, N.Y. — Spencer-VanEtten used a big fourth quarter to blow open a close game in a 36-20 win over Southern Cayuga here Tuesday night in IAC Small School crossover girls basketball action.
The Chiefs took advantage of S-VE's cold shooting in the first quarter to build a 9-5 lead.
Amari Diboun scored four points in the second quarter, and Maddie Gentile knocked down a 3-pointer in a 9-4 win that gave S-VE a 14-13 lead at the halftime break.
Lauren Gillette canned a 3-pointer and scored five points in the third quarter to spark a 9-5 spurt that extended the Panther lead to 23-18.
In the fourth quarter, Kaylee Kastenhuber tossed in seven points to fuel a 13-2 run that sealed the win.
Gillette led S-VE with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists, and Kastenhuber had 11 points, seven rebounds, and one blocked shot.
Gentile added five points and four steals in the win, while Diboun chipped in with four points and four rebounds, and Kaidince Root recorded seven steals.
S-VE, now 2-3, returns to action Friday at Candor.
