THE WEEK AHEAD: BASKETBALL, WRESTLING AGAIN DOMINATE WEEKLY SLATE (December 14, 2025)

TIOGA COUNTY — Basketball and wrestling dominate this week's slate of action as the 2025-26 winter season heats up.

There are 25 events on the docket this week, including nine on Tuesday and six on Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (2)
•  The Owego girls host Lansing in a non-league basketball tilt.

TUESDAY (9)
•  Candor hosts Small School boys basketball rival Newfield.

•  The Newark Valley host Dryden in an IAC Large School crossover girls basketball contest.

•  Owego hosts STAC boys hoop rival Windsor.

•  The S-VE boys host Southern Cayuga in an IAC Small School crossover hoop contest.

•  The Candor bowling teams host O-M at the Owego Bowl.

WEDNESDAY (2)
•  Owego is on the road at Waverly for a STAC wrestling dual.

•  SVEC hosts Schuyler (formerly O-M/Watkins Glen) in an IAC Large School wrestling dual.

THURSDAY (2)
•  Newark Valley hosts Marathon in a wrestling dual.

•  The Owego swim teams host Oneonta.

FRIDAY (6)
•  The S-VE boys host arch-rival Candor on the hardwoods, while the Candor girls host S-VE in a varsity-only match-up.

•  Newark Valley takes on Horseheads and Waverly in a non-league wrestling double-dual at Waverly.

•  The Owego girls host Oneonta in a STAC basketball contest, while the River Hawk boys are at Oneonta.

•  The Newark Valley boys host Whitney Point in an IAC boys basketball crossover.

SATURDAY (4)
•  Owego and Candor are both in action at the Section IV Winter Track & Field Classic at SUNY Cortland.

•  It's Day 2 of the North Country Wrestling Invite for Owego.

•  The S-VE boys begin play at the two-day Watkins Glen Basketball Tournament.
