HS GIRLS WRESTLING: SVEC PICKS UP MULTIPLE WINS AT U-E TOURNAMENT(December 12, 2025) Tioga County Sports Report
ENDICOTT — Spencer-Van Etten/ Candor only took five girls to the Union-Endicott Girls Wrestling Tournament here Friday, but each one came away with multiple victories as the Eagles landed a top-10 showing.
Taylor Zufall led the charge, garnering runner-up honors at 120 pounds. She pinned her first two foes in 1:54 and 2:19, then added a 10-0 tech fall. She made it four wins in a row with a pin in 1:17 before falling to Chenango Forks standout Emily Phelps in the finals.
Elizabeth Kunte placed fourth at 107 with a 3-2 record. She sandwiched a pin in 1:59 around tech falls in 1:35 and 3:19.
Katelynn VanEtten was fifth at 235, also going 3-2.. She scored a fall in 1:28, and also won a 9-4 decision and by forfeit.
At 126, Madalyn Jayne was sixth with a 2-3 mark. Her wins came via falls in 1:07 and 1:28.
Abigail Russell competed at 132 where she registered a pair of wins.
SVEC placed 10th in the 19-team event with 61.5 points. Tioga won the team championship with 135.5 points, edging out Elmira (134). Chenango Forks was third with 127, U-E took fourth with 121 and Owego was fifth with 115.
