OWEGO — Magavin Allen and Eric Schrader won four events apiece to lead Owego to an 87-20 win over Waverly and 81-51 victory over Chenango Forks in STAC boys swimming & diving action here Wednesday evening.

The triumph wasn’t so much about wins and losses as it was performances in the River Hawks’ season opener — which pleased coach Jamie Burns.

“I'm very happy with today's outcome,” she said. “I think they all had great times, great meet. They came in, they locked in, and they proved themselves. No PRs today, but they definitely have a good foundation started right now for the rest of the season.

Magavin Allen and Schrader teamed up with Vincent Kneller and Javan Belokur to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.62 and the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.37.

Magavin Allen’s individual wins came in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.33 and the 100 breaststroke with a 1:12.31.

Schrader captured the 200 individual medley, clocking 2:25.36, and also won the 500 free in 6:00.21.

Owego’s other victory came in the 100 backstroke where Padraig Allen recorded a time of 1:18.42.

Claiming runner-up spots were Dom Scherrer in the 200 free (3:20.31) and 500 free (9:55.31), and Kneller in the 100 breast (1:34.33).

Placing third were Belokur in the 100 free (:59.87) and Gilmore in the 100 fly (1:24.3).

There was no diving competition and the River Hawks did not enter the 400 free relay.

Owego heads to the Elmira Invitational Friday and Saturday.
