CANDOR — The Candor indoor track & field team has officially joined the ranks of winter sports.

“This is our inaugural year with a NYSPHSAA recognized indoor track and field team,” said coach Bree Zogaria, who has been involved with the Coyotes cross country and outdoor track & field teams for several years.

“We have some dedicated returners from outdoor: Zoey Lang in mids and distance, Declan Shaw in sprints, mids, and distance, Hayden Gehres in sprints, Rylan Cruz in sprints, throws, Flint Wilson in sprints, mids, Charlie Hilbert in sprints, jumps, and Lindsey Morse in jumps, hurdles.

“Newcomer Logan Aman joins us this year, excelling in the sprints. Logan will compete in the 55m and 300m.

Aman won the 55-meter dash at the season opener, Morse took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles and Hilbert placed eighth in the long jump.

Zogaria is hoping for a successful season.

“While we have previously competed as a club team over the winters, this is our first season as a recognized sport,” she said. “This season is full of hope and possibility, as well as growth. As the months progress, so shall we — in mindset, skill, and unity. Our athletes will continue to grow their skillset and explore their talents in new events.

“We're looking forward to watching this opportunity transform our running programs at Candor, as it will enhance the culture and desire to better ourselves as teammates and athletes.”
