IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: UNION SPRINGS' PRESSURE TOO MUCH FOR CANDOR IN 78-38 ROUT (December 10, 2025)

Tioga County Sports Report
UNION SPRINGS — Candor kept it close for a quarter, but Union Springs' pressure proved too much in a 78-38 blowout here Tuesday night in IAC girls basketball action.

The visiting Coyotes struck first when Megan Williamson took the opening-tip in for a lay-up. They would lead by as much as many as three points midway through the quarter before relinquishing the lead with less than two minutes remaining. The Wolves led 18-13 after the opening stanza.

The second quarter was all Union Springs as they used their size and Candor miscues to to put up 30 points, taking a 48-20 lead into the halftime locker room

Candor kept fighting in the third, replicating their 18-13 opening frame, closing the gap to 61-38 heading into the final eight minutes.

The Wolves finished up with a 12-5 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.

Emmi Makie led Candor with her third consecutive double-double. She scored 19 points and hauled down 11 rebounds, to go along with four steals.

Williamson finished with 11 points and five rebounds, while Shawna Conklin had six points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots, and Montana Vorhis recorded three steals.

Jennifer Daum led all scorers with 24 points, and Madison Kalet added 22 points for Union Springs..

Candor, now 1-2, returns to action Tuesday with a division match-up at Newfield.
