THE WEEK AHEAD: WINTER SPORTS SEASON SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR (December 7, 2025)

TIOGA COUNTY — The 2025-26 winter sports season roared to life over the weekend, and continues in high gear this week with every sport getting into the swing of things.

There are 27 events on the docket, including nine on Friday and five apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (3)
•  The S-VE girls hit the road to Harpursville for a non-league basketball game.

TUESDAY (5)
•  Owego hosts divisional rival Seton Catholic for a key early-season boys hoop contest.

•  Owego is on the road to take on wrestling powerhouse Waverly.

WEDNESDAY (5)
•  Owego hosts Waverly, Chenango Forks, and Green in a quad boys swim meet.

•  Owego hosts Susquehanna Valley on the hardwoods at the Owego Bowl.

THURSDAY (1)
•  S-VE hosts divisional rival Tioga in the girls basketball hardwoods.

FRIDAY (9)
•  The Candor boys hosts Union Springs in an IAC crossover basketball contest.

•  Owego hosts Chenango Forks on the boys basketball hardwoods.

•  S-VE is on the road at Tioga for a boys basketball match-up.

•  Newark Valley hosts Edison in an IAC South boys basketball game.

•  The SVEC, Owego and Newark Valley girls are at the U-E Tradesman Wrestling Tournament.

SATURDAY (4)
•  Owego is in action at the Elmira Boys Swimming & Diving Invitational.

•  Owego and Candor are in action at the 607 Winter Track & Field Invite at SUNY Cortland.
