SPENCER — Five different players scored one field goal apiece in the third quarter and Spencer-Van Etten pulled away in the second half to defeat Lansing, 30-16, in IAC JV girls basketball action here Thursday.

Rylee Silvernail, Maddy Gentile, Cloey Adams, Lilly Horyczun and Mackenzie Rose accounted for one basket each to turn a 7-7 halftime deadlock into a 17-12 lead.

Gentile would score nine points in the fourth quarter and Silvernail added four more as the Panthers secured the season-opening victory.

Gentile finished with 13 points, four steals and three assists, and made one 3-pointer. Silvernail contributed nine points and five steals, Rose added four points and six rebounds, Adams pitched in with two points and four steals, and Horyczun tacked on two points.
