HS GIRLS BASKETBALL: VESTAL RALLIES PAST NEWARK VALLEY AT DRAGO TOURNEY (December 5, 2025)

ONEONTA — Vestal rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Newark Valley, 50-40, in the first round of the Anthony Drago Tip-off Tournament Thursday.

Jenna Holleran scored nine of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to highlight a 20-9 surge by the Golden Bears.

Adriana Rich canned a pair of 3-pointers and Haven Aylesworth added a half dozen points as NV jumped out to a 15-7 advantage in the first quarter. Aubrey Kwiatkowski nailed one of her three treys in the opening period.

Kwiatkowski tacked on a second three-ball in Q2 while Vestal took an 8-7 edge to make it 22-15 at the break.

The Bears cut the lead to 31-30 in the third quarter.

Kwiatkowski scored a team-high 11 points, Aylesworth put up 10 points to go with nine rebounds and five steals, and Kam Short grabbed 10 boards, scored six points, blocked four shots, grabbed a pair of steals and dished out one assist.

Rich chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds and one assist, and Phillips added four points, four boards,one steal and one assist.

Tedessa DiRenzo led all scorers with 19 points, nine coming from beyond the arc.

This was Vestal's third straight Drago victory over NV, which last won the event in 2022.

Newark Valley faces Windsor in the consolation game Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
