HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO GIRLS COMPETE IN NIKE REGIONALS (November 27, 2025)

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — Seven cross country runners from Owego competed in the Nike Cross Nationals New York Open Regional held at Bowdoin Park here Saturday.

Senior Abigail McHugh led the River Hawks, placing 56th in the 5K race with a time of 21:21.3.

Senior Jaelyn Chrysler finished 89th in 21:50.9 and classmate Stella Palladino was 152nd, clocking 22:52. Freshman Paige DeProspero came in 304th with a 27:18.3 and sophomore Carolyn Schuyler was 315th in 28:28.

Non-scoring competitors for Owego included freshman Nola Rosenberger (319th, 29:19.6) and senior Piper Cunningham (333rd, 40:29.4).

Owego placed 23rd out of 27 scoring teams with 464 points. East Aurora won the team championship with 122 points. Also participating from Section IV was Corning (14th, 354).

Incomplete teams included Chenango Forks, Deposit/Hancock and Ithaca in the girls meet, and Chenango Valley, Corning, Horseheads, Ithaca and Vestal in the boys meet.

The event also serves as the Northeast qualifier for the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon.
