WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY GRAD BENJAMIN BEGINS SENIOR SEASON AT ALFRED STATE (November 11, 2025)

ALFRED, N.Y. — Newark Valley grad Taylor Benjamin, a senior on the Alfred State women's basketball game, stuffed the stat sheet in a season-opening loss to Penn College here Friday.

Benjamin struggled shooting the ball and ended the game with seven points, including one 3-pointer, but had nine rebounds (four on the offensive glass), four assists, and three steals in 35 minutes of action.

Entering this season, Benjamin has averaged 12.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game through 67 games (66 starts) in her first three seasons. She also has 72 3-pointers for her career.

Alfred State returns to action this weekend as it hosts the Crossbar Alfred Classic. The Pioneers will play Thiel College on Friday in the opening round and either Alfred U. or Bard College Saturday.
