TIOGA COUNTY — The Section IV Cross Country championships and postseason volleyball take center stage on Thursday.

CROSS COUNTRY
Section IV Championships at Chenango Valley State Park: Owego will run in the Class B Championships, while Newark Valley, S-VE and Candor will run in the Class D race.

Jaelyn Chrysler, Abigail McHugh and Javan Belokur lead Owego into action today as the River Hawks' best candidates to punch their tickets to States.

Eighth-grader Hadley Merrill and Brook Illsley are Newark Valley's best hopes to make a trip to States, while Candor's Zoey Lang and S-VE's Madelyn Ellison could also contend for state berths in Class D.

Section IV Playoffs
Class D Semi-final pool play
1-Candor (14-1), 2-Newfield (10-3), 3-Oxford (7-6), 4-S-VE (8-6), 3:30 p.m. @ Candor: The top two in the round-robin format will meet Sunday for the Class D title at Tioga Central H.S.

Candor will play Oxford in Round 1, while S-VE takes on Newfield.

In Round 2, Candor squares off with Newfield, while S-VE plays Oxford.

The night wraps up with Candor taking on S--VE.
