ONEONTA — Candor grad Shelby Swartz had back-to-back triple-doubles, and fellow Candor Braelyn Hornick grad averaged nearly 40 setter assists in wins over the weekend that ran Hartwick College's win streak to eight matches in a row.

On Friday, Hartwick topped SUNY Geneseo in four sets. Swartz led the Hawks with 17 service points, 16 kills, two blocks, 13 digs, and one assist, while Hornick had two points, 41 setter assists, two kills, and 10 digs, and Owego grad Sophia Palladino added one point, one kills, one assist, and 12 digs.

On Saturday, Hartwict beat Brockport in four sets. Swartz had 19.5 points, including two aces, 16 kills, two block, and 10 digs, while Hornick had four points, 38 assists, three kills, and nine digs, and Palladino added 4.5 points, three kills, two blocks, one assist and 10 digs.

Second-seed Hartwick opens the Empire 8 Championships Saturday against seventh-seed Utica University Saturday afternoon at Lambros Arena in Oneonta. The semifinals are set for Wednesday at a site to be announced.
