ON TAP TODAY: 'FOOTBALL FRIDAY,' POSTSEASON SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL TAKE CENTER STAGE (2025-10-24)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — Football Friday is joined on center stage by postseason boys soccer, and conference volleyball championships.

FOOTBALL
Owego (4-3) at Johnson City (1-5), 7 p.m.:
The River Hawks are coming off a 14-7 loss to state-ranked Waverly, while the Wildcats dropped a 58-0 decision to Maine-Endwell.

Owego's three losses are by a combined 10 points to a trio of state-ranked teams — Chenango Forks (No. 1 in Class C), Waverly (fourth in Class B), and Maine-Endwell (10th in Class B).

With a win tonight, and a Maine-Endwell win against Norwich, the River Hawks will be the third seed and play at M-E in the Class B semis. If Norwich wins at M-E, Owego would be the fourth seed and play at Waverly, which has already clinched the top seed.

Owego has outscored its opponents by an average of 16.1 to 9 points per game, while JC has been outscored 32.5 points to 16.2 points per game.

Trumansburg (5-2) at Newark Valley (3-4), 7 p.m.: The Blue Raiders are coming off a 28-6 loss to Tioga, while the Cardinals dropped a 48-19 decision to SVEC.

Trumansburg is in control of its own destiny. Wins this week, and against next week at home against Greene-Oxford, and the Blue Raiders punch their ticket to the Class D playoffs.

The Blue Raiders enter the contest outscoring their opponents by an average of 29.4 to 19 points per game, while the Cardinals have been outscored by an average of 24.6 to 20.1 points per game.
