COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA COUNTY TRIO LEADS HARTWICK TO FOUR STRAIGHT WINS (2025-10-22)

ONEONTA — Candor grads Braelyn Hornick and Shelby Swartz, and Owego grad Sophia Palladino have led Hartwick College to four straight wins in recent play.

During the run, Hornick notched a milestone 2,500th career setter assist, and Swartz and Palladino each recorded a triple-double.

The Hawks started their run with a sweep of Nazareth on Oct. 11, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17.

Hornick had four service points, including one ace, 23 setter assists, two kills, two blocks, and three digs, while Swartz had 12.5 points (three aces), eight kills, two blocks, and two digs, and Palladino had nine points (one ace), eight kills, and 10 dgs.

Last Wednesday, Hartwick topped SUNY Delhi in four sets. Hartwick won the first set 25-9, then dropped a 25-23 decision, before closing out the match with wins of 25-13 and 25-11.

Hornick had six points (three aces), 31 assists — including the 2,500th of her career, three kills, and six digs, while Swartz had 17.5 points (three aces), 14 kills, one block, one assist, and four digs, and Palladino had eight points (three aces), five kills, five digs, and two assists.

On Friday, Hartwick rallied for a five-set win over Alfred University. The Hawks won the first set 25-20, but dropped the next two sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-19. The closed out the match with wins of 25-22 and 15-13.

Hornick had six points (one ace), four kills, two blocks, a season-high 54 assists, and 11 digs, while Swartz had 19.5 points, 19 kills, one block, one assist, and seven digs, and Palladino had a triple-double with 15.5 points (four aces), 11 kills, one block, three assists, and 10 digs.

On Saturday, Hartwick swept Houghton College by scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-22.

Hornick had one point, 40 assists, two blocks, and seven digs, while Swartz had a triple-double with 17.5 points (two aces), 15 kills, one block and 12 digs, and Palladino had 12 points (two aces), 10 kills, and eight digs.

Hartwick College, now 15-10, returns to action Friday at Keuka College, and Saturday afternoon at Elmira College.
