IAC VOLLEYBALL: S-VE DROPS FIVE-SET THRILLER TO DRYDEN IN SEASON FINALE (2025-10-20)

SPENCER — S-VE led 2-1, but Dryden rallied to pull out a five-set thriller here Monday night in the regular-season finale in IAC volleyball action.

The Panthers opened the night with a 25-23 win in the first set, but the Purple Lions answered with a 25-22 win in the second set.

S-VE gained the advantage in the third set with a 25-20 decision, but Dryden bounced back with wins of 25-21 and 15-12 to close out the match.

Andy Wallace led S-VE with 20 service points, including three aces, and 12 digs, while Kelsea Swayze had eight points, 27 setter assists, and 13 digs, and Lauren Gillette had six points, 11 kills, two blocks, and seven digs.

Madison Ashby had six points (three aces), four kills, and 12 digs for the Panthers, while Amani Diboun had two points, two kills, and 16 digs, Elaina Middlebrook registered seven kills and five digs, and Trinity Dashler and Emma Neish chipped in with two digs apiece.

S-VE, now 8-6, awaits word — opening-round opponent, date and venue — on the Section IV, Class C playoffs.

JV — S-VE 2, Dryden 1: The junior Panthers dropped the first set to Dryden, 25-21, but rallied for a 2-1 win by taking the final sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15.

Caitlyn O'Connor-Lay led S-VE with 19 points, including six aces, five kills and six digs, while Kylee Stahl had seven points, three kills, one block and two digs, and Riley Koch had seven points (two aces).

Lillie Horyczun had two points and 17 assists in the win, while Leah Neish registered five kills and four digs, Zoey Barton added three points (two aces), four digs, and two assists, and Madison Emery chipped in with four kills.

S-VE, now 11-3, returns to action Thursday at Candor in the IAC Small School JV Championship match.
