IAC VOLLEYBALL: UNBEATEN CANDOR SWEEPS PESKY GROTON (2025-10-16)
Tioga County Sports ReportGROTON — Candor posted a workmanlike sweep of a pesky Groton squad here Wednesday night in IAC Small School volleyball action.
The Coyotes won by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-21.
Nicola Soper dominated at the net with 19 kills and two blocks, to go along with eight service points, including four aces, and eight digs, while Tracy Reynolds had 11 service points (two aces), and Jill Teribury had nine points (three aces) and three digs.
Emmi Makie had five points, eight kills and six digs in the win, while Malley Heidl had six points and 29 setter assists, and Hazel Ray had six points and three kills.
Nora Young added five points (two aces), and Ava Fernando chipped in with two points, three kills, and one block.
Candor returns to action Thursday when it hosts Union Springs.
JV — Candor 2, Groton 0: Candor won the junior varsity match in dominant fashion by scores of 25-12 and 25-6.
Ashlan Heidl led the junior Coyotes with 13 points, including seven assists, two kills and six assists, while Tori Hall had nine points (five aces), Kaedyn Everhart had five points (two aces) and three kills, Ava Halstead had two points (two aces) and two kills, Anna Kelsey had two points and four kills, and Ava Henderson and Lizzy Kunte chipped in with two points.
