SECTION IV FOOTBALL: LATE INTERCEPTION COSTLY AS SVEC FALLS TO T-BURG (2025-10-11)

TRUMANSBURG — Spencer-Van Etten/ Candor looked poised to add another win to its record before a costly interception helped Trumansburg turn the tables and defeat the Eagles, 28-6, here Friday night.
When Blue Raiders quarterback Vinnie King inadvertently touched a knee on a low snap, it gave SVEC the ball at the T-burg 22. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Eamon Herman was able to step in front of a Jakobe Foster pass for an interception in the end zone.
The Raiders would proceed to march 80 yards and score on a 1-yard run by Aiden Clark-Cebezas, who also added the PAT kick with 6:17 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the home team a 14-6 lead.
With 1:49 to play, King found Dafydd Williams for a 28-yard TD pass and a Clark-Cebezas PAT kick made it 21-6.
The Raiders drove the nail into the coffin when Foster was hit from behind at his own 31, causing a fumble which Anthony Murro II scooped up and returned for a TD. Another Clark-Cebezas PAT kick made it 28-6 with 1:31 left on the clock.
SVEC scored its points on Logan Aman’s 2-yard run at 3:10 of the first quarter, but the PAT run failed, giving the Eagles a 6-0 advantage.
T-burg would take the lead, 7-6, at 10:27 of the third period on Trayvon Forrest’s 2-yard run and Clark-Cebezas’ PAT kick.
On a positive note for the Eagles, Aman surpassed 1,000 yard rushing, picking up 87 on 20 carries to bring his season total to 1,061.
Folster added nine carries for 36 yards, Charlie Hilbert had nine runs for 20 yards and Landon Lawrence toted the rock twice for 10 yards.
Foster went 2-for-11 through the air for 34 yards with Teagan Kwiatkowski grabbing one pass for 29 yards and Hilbert catching the other for five more.
Jak Smith led the defense with six tackles, Aman had five, and Rylan Cruz and Hilbert added four apiece. Foster finished with a trio of takedowns, Zane Showerman had two tackles with two sacks, Rodney Vaow made two tackles and recovered a fumble, and Carter Edwards, Cooper Zufall, Nevin Mack and Kwiatkowski tacked on two tackles each. Ryan Huizinga had one tackle.
King led the T-burg offense, going 11-for-18 for 181 yards. Clark-Cabezas had four receptions for 48 yards and Williams snagged three more for 50 yards. Eamon Herman caught two passes for 27 yards, and William Brainard and Connor Sherwood one reception apiece, each going for 15 yards.
Clark-Cabezas had 19 carries for 86 yards.
T-burg and SVEC came into the game tied with Tioga at 1-0 atop the Division VII standings. The Tigers won their game over Groton and will visit T-burg on Friday night. The Eagles slip into a third-place tie with Newark Valley, whom they host at Candor on Friday.
