HS CROSS COUNTRY: OWEGO CONTINUES STRONG EFFORT AT BOB GREENE/NEWARK VALLEY INVITATIONAL (2025-10-11)

NEWARK VALLEY — The Owego cross country teams have had strong seasons and they continued at the Bob Greene/ Newark Valley Invitational here Friday with the girls placing third overall and the boys taking fourth.
Seniors Jaelyn Chrysler and Javon Belokur both placed fifth individually for their respective squads. Chrysler ran a time of 20:31.1 and Belokur clocked in at 17:11.6.
In the girls race, River Hawks senior Abigail McHugh placed 12th in 21:27 and 8th-grader Sarah Heath posted a time of 21:31.3 to take 13th. Seniors Stella Palladino and Lilly LaFever were 21st and 32nd, respectively, with times of 21:58.9 and 23:32.5.
Also competing for Owego was Carolyn Schuyler (52nd, 25:02).
Pennsylvania-based Abington Heights and Elk Lake took the top two team positions with 50 and 58 points, respectively. Owego finished with 75.
Elk Lake took the first three spots in the boys event and won the team title with 38 points. Horseheads was second with 91 and Abington Heights was third at 101, nipping the River Hawks by two points.
Senior Gavin Heath had a strong race, taking 16th with a time of 18:11, while classmate Magavin Allen finished 20th in 18:24.4. Junior Everett Tirinato-Snow claimed 29th with an 18:45.9. Junior Levi Saunders rounded out the team scoring with a 19:06.8.
Also participating were freshman Joram Belokur (53rd, 19:51.3 and junior
Cadon Wasielewski (67th, 20:32.2).
Owego will compete in the Marathon Invitational on Oct. 18.
