Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Owego and Newark Valley are at home on "Football Friday," while SVEC hits road for a divisional game. Meanwhile, Newark Valley hosts the annual "Bob Greene Cross Country Invitational."
FOOTBALL
Windsor (3-2) at Owego (3-2), 7 p.m.: The River Hawks, ranked 13th in Class B, are coming off a 20-6 win over Norwich, while the Black Knights (honorable mention in Class B) topped divisional foe Johnson City, 34-20.
Both teams are 3-2 and both have lost to state-ranked teams. Windsor lost to Waverly (34-13), ranked fourth in Class B, and Chenango Forks (30-7), ranked first in Class C, while Owego also lost to Forks (7-6) and Maine-Endwell (8-6), ranked 12th in Class B.
Owego's defense has not allowed more than 13 points in a game this season, and one the six TDs scored against the River Hawks was a pick-6.
Owego has outscored its opponents by an average of 19.2 to 8.2 points per game, while Windsor has outscored its opponents by an average of 22.6 to 22.2 points per game.
SVEC (4-1) at Trumansburg (3-2), 7 p.m.: The Eagles are coming off a 24-22 win over Delhi, which was ranked sixth in the state in Class D, while the Blue Raiders were thumped at Oneonta, 31-14.
SVEC, ranked 12th in Class D, is outscoring its opponents by an average of 40.4 to 20.2 points per game, while Trumansburg has outscored its foes 34 to 20.6 points per game.
Greene-Oxford (0-4) at Newark Valley (2-3), 7 p.m.: The Cardinals are coming ff a 35-13 loss to state-ranked Deposit-Hancock, while G-O is coming off a 44-26 loss to Walton.
Newark Valley has been outscored this season by an average of 27.2 to 18.2 points per game.
CROSS COUNTRY
Candor, S-VE, Owego at Bob Greene Invite, 3:30 p.m. @ Newark Valley: There will be 25 teams competing at the annual Newark Valley meet, including Candor, S-VE, Owego, Waverly, and Tioga, as well as the host Cardinals.
