WALTON — Walton scored early and eventually pulled away for a 7-0 win over Newark Valley here Thursday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.

The Warriors scored two goals in the first quarter, and led 3-0 at the  half. They scored two goals in the third quarter, and two more in the final 12 minutes.

Gwyn Northrup scored three goals for Walton, and Lo Robinson had two goals and two assists.

Walton had a 16-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 4-2 edge in penalty corners.

Ashleen Callahan recorded nine saves in the cage for the Cardinals.

Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday against SVEC at S-VE High School.
