STAC GIRLS SOCCER: SCORING WOES CONTINUE FOR OWEGO IN 1-0 LOSS AT SETON CATHOLIC (October 7, 2025)
Tioga County Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Owego's struggles to find the back of the net continued Monday night in a 1-0 loss to Seton Catholic in STAC Central Division girls soccer action.
The River Hawks have lost eight in a row, and fall to 3-11 on the season. They have been shutout in each of their last five games.
"Injuries have taken a toll on the team during this recent stretch, with several key players either sidelined or playing through injuries," said Owego coach Katelyn Simpson.
"Offensively, the team has struggled to find the back of the net, having not scored since the matchup against Vestal on Sept. 26.
"As our season comes to a close, we look to finish strong in our final game (Thursday) at Union-Endicott," added Simpson.
Seton Catholic had a 9-5 edge in shots-on-goal.
Kendra Turshman recorded eight saves in net for the River Hawks.
Friday
Oneonta 2, Owego 0At Owego, Oneonta outshot Owego, 7-1, in a 2-0 win Friday night.
Thursday
Elmira 1, Owego 0At Owego, Elmira scored a second-half goal in a 1-0 win over Owego.
"This was a frustrating game," said Simpson. "We had a great first half, controlling the majority of the game, but we couldn't find the back of the net."
Owego had a 7-5 edge in shots-on-goal.
Turshman recorded four saves for the River Hawks.
