Tioga County Sports ReportSPENCER — Marathon scored early in the fourth quarter break a scoreless tie on its way to a 2-0 win over SVEC here Monday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
The Panthers also dropped a 2-0 decision at Deposit-Hancock Friday.
"Both games we had more possession and more shots, but are struggling to find the back of the cage," said SVEC coach Abbie Gentile.
"We will continue to work at practices so that we can win these games that we are in control of," she added.
Liz Van Cise scored with 13:26 remaining in the game to give Marathon a 1-0 lead, and Miah Williams added an insurance goal with 5:03 left to provide the final margin.
SVEC had an 18-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners.
SVEC, now 5-7, returns to action Wednesday at Vestal.
