IAC GIRLS SOCCER: YOUNG NETS 5 GOALS TO LEAD NOTRE DAME IN 7-2 WIN OVER SVEC (2025-10-03)
Tioga County Sports ReportSOUTHPORT, N.Y. — Notre Dame standout MK Young scored five goals to lead the Crusaders to a 7-2 win over SVEC here Friday evening in IAC South Large School Division girls soccer action.
Liz Young put Notre Dame on the board first about six minutes into the game, then MK Young scored a pair of goals late in the half to make it 3-0 at the intermission.
Sophomore Allie Lyon, off a feed from junior Meradyth Stouffer, put the Eagles on the board with 29 minutes remaining in the contest to close the gap to 3-1.
Three minutes later Melanie Stevens scored off an assist from Emma Fey to trim the deficit to 3-2, but a minute later MK Young converted a penalty kick to make it 4-2.
Mira Maxwell, off a feed from MK Young, scored with 13 minutes remaining to extend the lead to 5-2, and MK Young scored twice in a little more than a minute to make it 7-2 with 10 minutes left in the game.
Notre Dame had a 15-7 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Alaina Yeirer recorded eight saves in net for the Eagles.
SVEC, now 3-9, returns to action Saturday at Union Springs. Game time is noon.
