NEW YORK STATE FOOTBALL: OWEGO DROPS IN LATEST STATE RANKINGS; TIOGA, WAVERLY REMAIN UNCHANGED (2025-10-02)
Tioga County Sports ReportSYRACUSE — Tioga and Waverly both remained ranked in the same slots this week, while Owego dropped after its loss to M-E in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association's high school football rankings.
CLASS BWaverly, now 4-0, remains fourth in the Class B rankings, behind Section IX's Port Jervis (4-0), Section XI's Sayville (3-0), and Section V's Monroe (4-0), which are ranked first through third, respectively.
Maine-Endwell (1-2), in the wake of its 8-6 win over Owego, jumped to 16th in the rankings, and Owego (2-2) is ranked 17th.
Norwich (2-2) is an honorable mention.
CLASS DTioga, now 3-1, is No. 1 in the Class D rankings, while Delhi (3-1) is sixth, Trumansburg (3-1) is 12th, and Deposit-Hancock (3-1) is 14th.
SVEC (3-1), Sidney (3-1), and Walton (2-2) all received honorable mention recognition.
Elsewhere, Section II's Greenwich (3-0), Section I's Tuckahoe (3-0), Section VI's Newfane (3-0) and Section III's Lowville (3-0) are ranked second through fifth, respectively.
CLASS AHorseheads (4-0) is ranked 11th in Class A, while Union-Endicott (3-0) and Vestal (3-1) are ranked 16th and 17th, respectively.
CLASS CChenango Forks (4-0) is atop the Class C rankings, with Windsor (2-2) ranked 12th.
Oneonta (3-1) is an honorable mention.
8-MANMoravia (3-0) sits atop the 8-man football rankings, while Thomas A. Edison (3-0) is fifth, and Unatego / Franklin / Gilbertsville-Mount Upton (3-0) is ninth.
Dryden (2-1) is an honorable mention.
