IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR RALLIES, RE-GROUPS TO BEAT TRUMANSBURG IN FIVE SETS (2025-10-01)

TRUMANSBURG — Candor rallied, and then re-grouped to pull out a five-set win over Trumansburg here Wednesday night in IAC volleyball action.

After dropping a 25-23 decision in the first set, the Coyotes took a 2-1 lead with wins of 25-21 and 25-16.

Trumansburg bounced back to even things up with a 25-17 win in the fourth set, but Candor improved to 9-0 on the season with a 15-8 win in the decisive fifth set. It was the Coyotes' first five-set match of the season.

"It was a great match, with some great rallies by both teams," said Candor coach Pam Quinlan.

Nicola Soper led Candor with 19 service points, including five aces, 17 kills, one block, and five digs, while Emmi Makie had 14 points, including seven aces, 20 kills, and eight digs, and Malley Heidl had 14 points, 32 assists, and four digs.

Tracy Reynolds and Jill Teribury each had 10 points in the win, while Hazel Ray had nine points, three kills, and two digs, and Montana Vorhis had four points.

Ava Fernando registered three kills and one block for the Coyotes, while Nora Young recorded four digs, Lydia Kunte added three points, and Valeria Polanco-Gil chipped in with two points.

JV — Trumansburg 2, Candor 0: Trumansburg won the junior varsity match by scores of 25-19 and 25-22.

Kaedyn Everhart led Candor with seven points (two aces), while
Tori Hall had four points, (two aces), and nine assists, Ava Halstead had six points and five kills, Anna Kelsey had two points and five kills, Ashlan Heidl added two kills and three assists, and Ava Anderson chipped in with two points.

Candor returns to action Monday when it hosts Moravia.
